The President has overall responsibility for the Ouray Trail Group. She calls and presides over the group meetings, assigns tasks for the committees, and assures the group is functioning as prescribed in the articles of incorporation and bylaws. She directs the Map Committee and is responsible for development of the Hiking Trails of Ouray County map and guide prior to the publication of each new edition, and reports the committee's progress at the group meetings. For orienting information about objectives, meeting schedules, current activities, the Hiking Trails of Ouray County map and guide, or general questions about the Ouray Trail Group, please contact

The Vice-President acts in the absence of the President. TRAIL WORK, Phil Wolkin: The Chair is responsible for determining what trails need work, type of work to be completed and when that work is to be done. He contacts members to set up a group of workers for each project. The planned actions are coordinated with the Forest Service prior to the work being completed. A report of volunteer hours and accomplishments is made to the Forest Service, and to the group at its monthly meetings. If you are interested in learning how to make signs, or would like to be involved in trail work, please contact
Phil by Phone: 970-325-4368 The Adopt-a-Trail Program allows local residents, businesses and community organizations to assist the Ouray Trail Group and U.S. Forest Service trail maintenance efforts by adopting their favorite trail. Adopters perform light trail work, maintain the trailhead registers and provide feedback on trail conditions. For further information on the program and to discuss adopting one of our numerous "orphan" trails, please contact
Debbie by Phone: 970-626-3099

The Chair is responsible for "special" actions and activities that take place during the year. The National Trails Day activities are an important annual event that must be planned and coordinated by this committee. Current projects include the the Ironton Park/Red Mountain area and other new trail proposals, grant proposals, and Winter Nordic activities. A report on progress is made at each group meeting.
